Prospect Berkshires

Retreat in Egremont, MA

Featured in 80+ publications,including Vogue,Travel + Leisure,Architectural Digest and Condé Nast Traveler

Set on 30 wooded acres beside Prospect Lake, this lakeside resort transforms a former mid-century campground into 49 cedar, stone, and glass cabins, each framed to hold the forest and water rather than compete with it.

Alander led both the design and construction, working alongside an Amish Fabricator to build with materials chosen for longevity and warmth, and restored the property's circa-1876 Cliff House into the resort's restaurant while keeping its original timber frame intact.

The renovation calmed the architecture, expanded the glazing toward, and let the surrounding landscape take the lead, balancing rugged, reclaimed materials with quiet, modern restraint.
